Athenaum Comic Mentoring Program

Welcome to the Athenaeum Comics Mentoring Pilot Program application!

Our first mentor is the incredibly talented Remy Boydell, artist of projects such as The Pervert and 920London.

The goal of the program is to assist an up-and-coming cartoonist to create a full comic.

For this first round, mentorship is open to anyone over the age of 18 and who has not published or self-published a comic before ('publishing' used to mean 'on paper' here, people who post comics online are definitely invited to apply).

We will choose a small group of cartoonists as the first cohort. There will be future opportunities to apply with additional mentors after the pilot program is complete.

The mentorship opportunity will include:

  • 6 one hour online sessions (you can choose to be on video or just audio) over 3 months

  • Self-directed comics work between sessions with the aim to develop and create a comic and a publishing plan

  • Constructive critiques

  • Advice about publishing

  • Access to an established cartoonist

  • Safe spaces for collaborating with aspiring cartoonists

Applications are due: End of day on July 23rd

Please apply here.
